Lydia Claire Kirkland Joins Central Florida Public Affairs as Senior Political Strategist

Orlando, Fla. – Central Florida Public Affairs (CFPA), Orlando’s fastest-growing government relations firm, has hired veteran political strategist Lydia Claire Kirkland to help lead its state-wide efforts in Tallahassee. Kirkland brings deep knowledge of the Florida political landscape and years of experience in fundraising, campaign management, and strategy, as well as working with lawmakers on policy.

“As Central Florida Public Affairs continues to grow, expanding our Tallahassee presence (or “in Tallahassee”) allows us to better serve our clients at the center of Florida’s policymaking. Hiring a seasoned political advisor underscores our commitment to offering unmatched insight and advocacy across the state,” said Sharon Smoley, founder and CEO of CFPA. “We’re thrilled to have Lydia Claire Kirkland join our team to help lead this new chapter — her experience, relationships, and understanding of Florida politics make her the perfect person to launch a year-round Tallahassee presence.”

In her new role at CFPA, Kirkland will lead donor engagement, advise clients on political strategy, and spearhead policy initiatives.

“This opportunity to open a Tallahassee office for CFPA allows the firm to grow its portfolio of clients, and I am excited to join a team that’s driven policy forward and shown incredible success for its clients in a short amount of time,” said Kirkland.

Founded in 2021, CFPA’s clients include Fortune 100 companies, leading sports and entertainment agencies, and specialized industry firms. Kirkland joins Smoley, Senior Policy Advisor Rachael Kobb, and Government Affairs Advisor Robbie Vogan, all seasoned lobbyists who bring their clients winning local government and community relations strategies while building powerful coalitions to tackle complex issues.

Kirkland has more than 20 years of experience in Florida politics, with prior stints in Tennessee and North Carolina. Beginning her career as a fundraiser, Kirkland quickly added campaign management and caucus strategy to her portfolio, leading her to develop and implement multimillion-dollar issue advocacy and political campaigns. Most recently Kirkland advised individuals and organizations on political engagement, contribution strategy, and policy outcomes.

“Lydia Claire is a trusted strategist and advocate, navigating both the political and legislative arenas with grace. Whether advising on campaigns or policy, Central Florida Public Affairs’ clients will be well served by her experience and professionalism. I look forward to watching her excel at this growing firm,” said Rep. Lawrence McClure, R-District 68, Chair of the Florida House Budget Committee.

Kirkland grew up on a farm an hour away from Lambeau Field before attending the University of Florida. She remains a loyal Packer and Gator fan. She and her husband Jordan live in Tallahassee with their two dogs.
